Carl Mondeved is a Strike Fighter pilot. He is engaged in a two front, interstellar war against an alien race and a robotic enemy for a technology that could change the life of every individual in the Confederation of Planets. Carl is involved in the final, victorious battle, only to find that the technology may have been lost. But there is relatively little time for celebrating the hard won peace. In just over eight years a new enemy attacks the now combined Grand Alliance. The attack comes from an enemy they know next to nothing about. The enemy ships are like nothing ever seen before. Their ships are faster and have greater agility than those of the Fleet. But the Fleet does have one advantage. They have the Strike Fighter, and the strangers do not. The Strike Fighter Forces are turning the tide in battle. But, why are no bodies ever found in the wreckage of the stranger’s ships? Are they being flown by remote control? Since the strangers have won almost every battle, the suspected Controller Ship is never seen. The Fleet has instituted a crash program to construct Strike Fighters and to train pilots to fly them. However, all their efforts may come to nothing. The remaining thing the Grand Alliance knows about the strangers is that they like to fight, they are good at it, and they are winning.
